Student membership includes the following key elements:
Intensive eight-week workshop where students share aspirations/goals as well as barriers to these goals & strategies for overcoming them.
A six-week soft skills group, which qualifies attendees for job shadowing, internships, and summer jobs with our Fairfield County community business partners.
A program for high school seniors that drives the end-to-end college process beginning in September and runs until each student has made the final college acceptance decision in May. This preparation includes developing student essays, searching and selecting colleges, completing the Common Application, searching for scholarships, comparing financial aid offers, and final college commitment. In addition to the ongoing workshops and college tours, each senior is paired with an individual volunteer coach who works as a partner with him/her through the entire college process.
Members are assigned a student advocate and volunteer coaches with an emphasis on college coaches who help juniors and seniors navigate the complexities of the college application and financial aid processes.
Students remain members through high school graduation and can take advantage of weekly enrichment events featuring inspirational guest speakers, college visits, math and writing tutoring, field trips to local businesses, celebrations of holidays/key milestones and a full schedule of summer enrichment and social activities.
